At present, in a ship, no braking system exists. To stop a ship, Captain of a ship either shutoff propeller of an engine or in case of emergency, rotates the propeller in anticlockwise direction. Present technology can easily be used to create dependable braking system in a ship and also to save a ship from collisions, instability and damages during high tides.
From an experiment results, it has been gathered that after application of present system, a motorized boat attains halt position in a much shorter time period than earlier. Present system also helps in changing the direction of movement on a motorized boat in a much easier way.
It is believed that present system would help a Captain, in having an effective check over instability and damages in that ship, during high tides.
Present braking system would help in reducing ‘insurance cost’, and ‘fixed cost’ of trip of a ship because after installation of present system, captain of that ship would be in a position to run that ship at a higher speed (while having full control over collision of ships) i.e. achieving better fuel efficiency and thus will complete a trip in a much shorter duration.
From ‘Navigation Byelaws’ it has been gathered that while movement of a ship, collision of ships is a major safety concern. To avoid collisions, the captain drives it at a slower speed.
In submarines, present innovation can help in achieving braking system as described for ships, besides it can also help in regulating an intake or outflow of water to sink or to float above, a submarine at a desired point of time.
