Solution to Tail end problem through Pressure and Flow Control Valve
This is a well-known fact that for aerobic biodegradation of any biodegradable material (a Carbon base/organic material) presence and growth of aerobic bacteria is necessary. Growth of aerobic bacteria basically depends upon oxygen supply, pH value, moisture content, C/N ratio (Carbon/ Nitrogen ratio), and temperature of biomass i.e. biodegradable material(s). Out of which, pH value and C/N ratio of biomass, is generally checked, at the time of commencing of biodegradation process; whereas moisture content, oxygen supply and temperature; is checked and maintained (to a desired level) during entire biodegradation process. Biodegradation may consume about 5-7 days in completing the entire process.
Here we would be discussing about oxygen supply, only; which not only influence to growth of bacteria i.e. biodegradation process in totality but also is a major factor to influencing maintenance of moisture content (evaporation process) and temperature of biomass during entire process.
Presently, in case of liquid waste (sewerage); oxygen, in the form of air, is supplied with the help of pumps/ air blowers and diffusers. In such case, generally, air bubbles enter into the biomass container from its base and during their travel from bottom towards top; these air bubble (due to surface contacts), transfers oxygen to the biomass. From field experience, it has been gathered that generally, travel speed of such air bubbles is moderately high to very high; these air bubble, while travelling, not only damage to the bacteria colonies but also least help in transferring oxygen to the biomass. This activity gives, little benefits but badly affect the pace of biodegradation process.
Present device being an energy dissipating device has potential to solve this problem very efficiently. To solve this problem, present device is to be installed prior to every air-diffuser. This will not only will help in enhancing the pace of biodegradation process but also would result to save cost of pumping of air into the biomass.
In case of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), air is being supplied by rotating the waste heap at a desired time-interval. This activity generally results in loss of moisture & temperature, both from biomass and thus badly affect the biodegradation process. Sometimes, oxygen is supplied into the biomass (in the form of air) by applying force or by creating suction.
